Traditional Mobility Devices. The Aquarium welcomes guests with disabilities and allows the use of traditional mobility devices, which are manually-operated or power-driven wheelchairs and scooters, walkers, canes, and other manually-operated mobility aids, in all areas of the Aquarium that are open to the public. If a guest's other-power-driven mobility device does not meet the requirements of a traditional OPDMD, there is a seated electric scooter available to use and manual wheelchairs for complimentary use by guests with mobility disabilities while at the Aquarium.
Other Power-Driven Mobility Devices. Guests with mobility disabilities may also use other power-driven mobility devices (“OPDMDs”) (defined as any power-driven device used for locomotion that is not a traditional mobility device) in all areas of the Aquarium that are open to the public if (1) the device is manufactured to not be capable of exceeding a speed limit of 3 mph; (2) the combined height of the individual and the device while in use does not exceed 7 ft.; and (3) the device is not gas-powered. These safety limitations are based on the physical and operational aspects of the Aquarium. Segways may not be used at the Aquarium because they do not meet these safety limitations. Guests with mobility disabilities must operate OPDMDs in accordance with the Aquarium’s rules for safe operation, which will be provided to the guests for review before entry into the facility.
